Here at Hassness we strive to produce great food and use as many local West Cumbrian producers as possible. Brian bakes fresh bread every day. The milk in your cereals or in your tea and coffee comes fresh from Sykes Farm a mile down the road in Buttermere village and is lovingly produced by Les’ Ayrshire Cows. He also used the milk to make good local ice cream, which we also serve with Poached Pears.
If you choose to have a cooked breakfast your bacon comes from Mains Farm in Wigton, the eggs come from Moorhouse Farm in Workington.
Cumbria produces a variety of such amazing foods, from handmade Eden Chieftain Cheddar from Appleby Creamery (which we use in the sandwiches for your packed lunches) to Herdwick Lamb which is, in our opinion, the best lamb in the world - you might even see some of it strolling across the lawn…
We believe that by supporting as many small businesses as possible we play our part in keeping the local economy going, cutting down food miles, and being able to provide good local food for our guests. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
