Hassness Country House

Dining

Start your day at Hassness with a hearty traditional English breakfast or choose from any of the fresh fruit, yoghurt, porridge or cereals which are available too.

We provide a substantial 'walkers' packed lunch to keep you going on the fells during the day.

On your return to the house you have facilities to make yourself a refreshing cup of tea, accompanied by a slice of one of Ruby's renowned home-made cakes. On some days this is even possible in the sunshine on the terrace outside!

Finally, a delicious three course meal is served with Brian's speciality bread, baked daily. All the food is freshly prepared by Brian and locally-sourced wherever possible. Brian has created a number of delicious recipes including his fabulous "Lamb Henry"; made with local lamb it is a treat not to be missed!

Because the food is all freshly prepared on site, meals can be adjusted to meet most people's dietary needs.

Hassness Country House is not licensed but you are very welcome to bring your own beer & wine to drink.

Please note that there is no evening meal provided on Tuesdays (Brian gets a well-deserved break). However there are two pubs in Buttermere village, The Bridge and The Fish, both providing meals close by on these evenings.
